USA: California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA)

The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (also known as Proposition 65 or Prop 65) requires the governor (through the State's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, or OEHHA) to publish, at least annually, a list of chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.

Argentina - CNC now AFTIC



In accordance to Article 77 of Law Nr. 27078 "Argentina Digital", the FEDERAL AUTHORITY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS – (In Spanish “AUTORIDAD FEDERAL DE TECNOLOGÍAS DE LA INFORMACIÓN Y LAS COMUNICACIONES” – AFTIC), started its duties on June 1st 2015 and continues with the activities carried out by the former National Communications Commission - CNC. 

Due to the re-organization process at AFTIC, including management structure and staff changes, we may be experiencing some delays in the Homologation of Telecom and Radiocom products for Argentina.
There has been no announcement yet on how product markings will be impacted. We will be following up with this shortly.

Gabon - PROGEC Program: Starting August 1, 2015

The Agence Gabonnaise de Normalisation (AGANOR)  will be enforcing its  Conformity Assessment Programme “PROGEC”  (Programme Gabonais
d'Evaluation de la Conformité) beginning August 1, 2015.



The PROGEC programme verifies the conformity of all regulated products ensuring they comply with applicable national, regional or international standards and technical regulations, protecting the health, safety and environment of Gabon’s citizens from sub standard imported goods. 

Exporters to Gabon will be required to provide a Certificate of Conformity for Customs clearance.

USA: California Proposition 65; BPA Added to List Effective May 11, 2015

Effective May 11, 2015, California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) added bisphenol A (BPA) to the list of chemicals known to the state of California to cause reproductive toxicity for purposes of the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, Proposition 65.

Europe: EN 62368-1: 2014 now listed in OJ


EN 62368-1: 2014 the new safety standard for Information Technology Equipment and Audio/Video Equipment is now officially recognized by the EU as a standard for presumption of compliance with the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC).

Malaysia - SRD and RFID Radio Transmitters in the range of 869 Mhz to 870 Mhz

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced that the Class Assignment issued under Section 169 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for Short Range Devices (SRD) and Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) operating in the frequency range 869MHz to 870MHz will be cancelled and thereafter will no longer be permitted effective from 1st January 2018 onwards.

This Notice is issued pursuant to Regulation 28 of the Communications and Multimedia (Spectrum) Regulations 2000

India: BIS Registration Validity Period for Grant Registration under the Compusory Registration Scheme


Effective January 28, 2015, India BIS Registration is now 2 years instead of 1 year. For example registration granted March 24, 2014 with a validity of March 23, 2015 is automatically extended to March 23, 2016.

INDIA: Information and Technology Equipment-Safety Part 1 General Requirements IS 13252: 2010 + A1: 2003; Effective December 3, 2014

Effective December 3, 2014, India BIS will not accept any test report without the Amendment 1:2013

For registrations made before 3 December 2014, the following actions should be taken:

1. Send any affected models to a BIS Recognised lab for additional testing as per the below guidelines.
2. Send letter of undertaking to BIS as per the guideline and updated test report to BIS.
3. BIS will then review the updated test report and provide a stamped photocopy of the same as acknowledgement. No further action is required from BIS.

If the above actions are not taken before May 31st, 2015, BIS will issue a  cancellation notice to the manufacturer.
