Mexico - NOM-019 Safety Family Grouping

For ITE (NOM-019) Mexico NOM (safety) mandatory certification, product models are considered the same family when they comply with the following conditions:

• Identical brand.
• Same voltage, frequency and power supply components.
• Products may have the same power consumption with 10% tolerance between highest and lowest consumption models provided they continue to comply with the heating, electrical shock, stability and mechanical strength tests.
• Black and white or color monitors that have identical size kinescope, and if the quality and type of insulating materials used in the electrical and/or electronic components does not change.
• Printers of identical performance type (laser, dot matrix, ink jet, etc.) with same operating system and capacity, similar in input signal type and same type of accessories.
• Plotters with the same operating system and capacity, similar in input signal type and same type of accessories.
• External disc units with same format.
• External tape units with same format.
• Optical readers of identical capacity, with same electrical and/or electronic components.
• Plastic parts may be changed for metal parts that may have contact with the user provided the degrees of protection against electrical shock and heating are fulfilled.
• Insulating, thermal and electrical materials shall be of identical type and operation capacity.
• Mechanical securing systems shall be of identical type and strength.


Please note that up to fourteen (14 models) may be covered in one certificate with same family grouping

Please note also that your products may be exempt from NOM safety certification
depending on the Harmonized Tariff (HS) Code.
