Japan - PSE Mark for External Power Supplies

You will be shipping a product with external power supply to various customers in Japan, but do not have an importer yet. As required by METI, the PSE logo must be marked on the external power supply together with the certification body logo and importer name (reporting supplier) or logo as regsitered in METI. The importer (reporting supplier" must also hold a certified copy of the PSE cert.

Interested on some solutions to this problem when you have no importer in Japan yet but need to be ready since you have notify the power supply vendor to provide you with marked up power supplies with the PSE Mark and importer name (takes a long time).

Frequency

In Japan, 50 Hz is used in the Eastern part of the country and 60 Hz in the Western part. In the central area, 50 Hz or 60 Hz are used due to multiple electricity suppliers.


Voltage

In general, commercial voltages are 100V and 200V.

Japan Denan and Li-Ion Secondary Batteries - PSE Category B

METI Ordinance No.35 and No.38 issued on May 14, 2008 regulates Li-Ion secondary batteries (there are some exceptions) under the Denan Law.

Category B - PSE within a circle Mark

Test standards: JIS C8712 and JIS C8714

Effective Date: November 20, 2008

Article 9 (except renaming of the name of conformity-assessment bodies, other contents are same as present provisions.)
Article 10 (same as present provision, marking by the Japanese reporting supplier)

In Article 8, there are two requirements, one is for compliance with the technical requirements established by Ministrial Ordinance and another is for inspection at the manufacturing stages. This second item of Article 8 addresses production-line test requirements.
